This 2003 volume comes from Compass Productions/BMG Special Products (DRC12359) as part of their Five Star Collection series, and when they say "100% Original Artists & Recordings" right on the cover you can pretty much take that to the bank.It is, however, a "budget series" which, while having very good sound reproduction quality, has nothing in the way of discography/liner notes. Nor are the 12 tracks anything most collectors haven't seen in any number of top quality compilations from the likes of Ace of London and Bear Family of Germany which offer upwards of 25-30 tracks on a single disc and always include voluminous background notes. For someone who wasn't around to experience them first hand, however, and who simply wants a sampling of some of the best to ever make the Billboard Pop Hot 100 from 1958 to 1968 (and also cross over to the R&B and/or Country charts in some cases) this would be ideal.1.
