These guys gave us young(back then) so much fun. I must be the only one that thinks that "Wake Me, Shake Me" and "What about Us" are two gems that some how got lost.Buy it and remember a time when life was fun(I feel sad saying that on a day of such sorrow for the young children in that school that were killed)If your 60 or over you were blessed to grow up in that era!!Jazzman65This CD of the under-rated (certainly in the UK) Coasters contains all their US hit singles in sequence from 1955 to 1960. Pity it stops at 1960. If it went up to 1961 (there is ample space) the hits "Just Like Me", "Bad Blood", and "Girls Girls Girls" would be included. The vast majority of the songs were written by song-writing team Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, who mixed rock'n'roll with humour in their lyrics. And UK bands which have covered Coasters hits include The Hollies and The Rolling Stones. The Coaster were always a favourite group of many Sixties bands in Liverpool such as The Beatles who did 'Young Blood' and Three cool cats' as part of their stage act at The Cavern and around the local clubs. This particular CD is very satisfying and varied, mixing rock'n'roll, blues, doo-wop and humour. If you buy this I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Brian O'ConnellFor me The Coasters have easily been the outstanding vocal pop group in pop music history. The songs are full of wit, mystery and wry humour. Several have the additional attraction of King Curtis on tenor saxophone. Of all their great tracks the one that stands out for me is "Shoppin' for Clothes".
